Blue surrounds us throughout the day, quite literally, whether it is the sky above, the sea, the visual landscape of the street, or the tones that fill our offices and homes. It is no surprise, then, that many people name it as their favourite colour, ahead of other popular choices such as red or green.
The appeal of blue has several roots. On one hand, it is closely associated with nature, especially water and air, which gives it a strong connection to calm, balance, and serenity. On a social and emotional level, blue is also linked to strength, trust, and stability, qualities that help explain why it continues to feel so reassuring in everyday spaces.
In design and interior design, blue could be described with a long list of virtues, but three ideas capture it best: freshness, spaciousness, and quiet. While its presence in bedrooms is already well established because of its relaxing and sleep-friendly character, blue has only recently started making a stronger appearance in kitchens.
Blue kitchens are now a clear trend, and that is easy to see in these 12 spaces designed by leading interior designers and top brands. In each one, blue takes centre stage, even though every kitchen has its own scale, style, and personality.
If you are looking for ideas to bring blue into your kitchen, these examples offer a useful starting point and show why the trend is set to keep growing in 2024.
12 blue kitchens that are pure style

Dark blue and wood
Choosing an island or peninsula with lacquered blue cabinetry can be a smart way to introduce the colour gradually. In this project by interior designer Ines Benavides, the combination of blue and wood stands out as a complete success, whether in deeper shades or in lighter sky and pastel tones.

Classic kitchen in sapphire blue
Blue comes in many shades, including navy, indigo, Klein blue, cobalt, and light blue, but in this case interior designer Maria Fernandez chose sapphire blue, a tone that feels less intense and more soothing. It works particularly well with the carved furniture and the classic atmosphere that runs throughout the kitchen.

A small kitchen in blue? Absolutely
There is a common idea that small kitchens must always be white, but that is far from true. As this example shows, and precisely because of its compact size, the kitchen needed a bold colour to give it the presence it deserved. In short, if you cannot boast a large kitchen with an island, you can still showcase a kitchen that feels original and full of personality.

A kitchen with wooden countertops and turquoise doors
This kitchen was designed both for cooking and for serving as the social heart of a home in the upper part of Barcelona. With that in mind, great care was taken over the design, choosing high-quality wood furniture, wooden countertops, and turquoise doors.

Blue and red, a bold duo
For its autumn-winter 2022 campaign, Kave Home surprised us with this kitchen, combining blue and black furniture with red flooring and industrial yet natural finishes. It is a mix that, in theory, should not work, but in practice it comes together beautifully. We have to admit it is one of our favourites.

Bright blue furniture
Arguably the most modern and daring kitchen in the selection so far. Alvic presents this room, which combines marble countertops and cladding with glossy blue cabinetry. It is a clear example that blue does not have to belong only to classic interiors.

Classic kitchen in light blue
Along with the combination of blue and white furniture, this kitchen also blends classic details, such as the relief work on the cabinetry and the gold taps, with modern and natural finishes, including smooth countertops and a bar-desk area. It is a bright space where blue adds character and subtly nods to the sea, since it faces Santa Pola beach in Alicante.
The entire kitchen was custom-designed by Kinze Studio. Silestone countertop. White fish-scale tiles by Yanyare. The fridge and sink are from IKEA. Handles were purchased from Serviherrajes, and the ovens are by SMEG.

Wallpaper and blue furniture
Matching the walls with the furniture is the key to achieving a magazine-worthy kitchen with wallpaper. In this kitchen, a white, blue, and gold print with highly dynamic shapes was chosen to work perfectly with the blue cabinetry, the golden tones in the lighting, taps, and chairs, and the white marble and other detailing.

Outdoor kitchen in sky blue
Outdoor kitchens in blue are also gaining momentum. Although this is not a full kitchen because it does not include a hob, Abimis’s cooling station deserves a place on any inspiration list, both for its summer-ready colour and for what it offers: a fridge, an ice dispenser, a sink, and two practical counter modules for glasses and bottles.
